Portable Guitar Amp
Personal Project, Product Design & Woodworking
I designed and built a portable guitar amp with character. The amp is a stool that is battery powered for jamming with friends anywhere, and folds up for easy transportation.
Building
I enjoyed learning new fabrication techniques while building the amp and upholstering both the pleather seat cushion and the cloth speaker cover. Soldering the circuitboard together was a refreshing challenge.
Prototyping & Ideation
I sketched multiple designs to explore an unobtrusive furniture-like aesthetic, while incorporating subtle yet functional features. I refined the final design in SolidWorks.
Functionality
The speaker rotates around a rod to allow the amp to be stored or transported, while the base forms a lidded box to house guitar gear.
